About Me
And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.
Sylvia Plath
Hi, I’m Anna Nuttall, and I’m really happy you’re here.
I live in London with my husband Richard. He’s my best friend, my partner in crime, and the one usually behind the camera when you see photos of me. He’s a professional photographer and yes, he’s very patient. I spent over ten years working in retail before finally listening to my heart and turning to what I’ve always loved most — writing, photography, and the internet.
I’ve always felt more comfortable expressing myself through words than speaking out loud. I have a mild speech impediment, and sometimes it’s hard for me to say things clearly. But when I write, I feel like I can breathe. I can take my time and really say what I mean. Writing gives me confidence in a way nothing else ever has.
In 2012, I graduated from the University for the Creative Arts with a degree in Fashion Journalism. That was a turning point for me. I had finally found a place where I felt I belonged. I loved writing about style and culture, creating stories, and capturing moments. Around that time, blogging started to become popular, and I just knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.
About This Blog
When I first launched annanuttall.com, it was supposed to be a portfolio for my freelance work. I never expected it to turn into a space so personal and meaningful. It grew into something much bigger — a diary, a scrapbook, a creative outlet, and my digital home.
Here I share a bit of everything. From AI artworks and travel stories to thoughts on life and honest chats about my health. I live with chronic kidney disease and go to dialysis three times a week. It’s not easy, and it’s not always pretty, but I believe in being open about it. If talking about it helps even one person feel a little less alone, then I’ve done something right.
This website is where I show up as my full self. Sometimes I write about makeup and clothes. Sometimes I write about dreams and memories. Sometimes I just need to vent. Whatever the topic, I try to write from the heart. I want this to feel like a cosy corner of the internet. A place where you can sit back with a cuppa and just enjoy reading something that makes you feel good.
I also love photography and never leave the house without my camera. Richard helps me take a lot of the pictures you see here. I’m always snapping photos — whether it’s a cute café in London, something I just bought, or a moment I want to remember. I love sharing my world visually as well as through words.
Who I Am
If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m like a Magnum ice cream. I can seem a bit reserved at first, but once you get to know me, I’m chatty, warm, and full of energy.
I’ve always loved fashion and style. I’m constantly browsing designer websites, wandering around shops, and looking for bright colours and bold prints. I adore designers like Anna Sui, Laura Lees, and Betsey Johnson. Their styles are playful and brave, and they remind me that fashion is meant to be fun.
I enjoy getting lost in the city. I love finding new places in London, exploring side streets, and discovering cafés where I can curl up with a book or write in my notebook. I always carry a magazine with me, and I never say no to a slice of cake. Life’s too short not to enjoy the little things.
A Bit of a Geek
Underneath the girly outfits and lipstick, I’m also a big geek. I love gaming, especially fantasy RPGS. I spend more time on my PlayStation than I care to admit. I’m happiest when I’m in a quiet room, controller in hand, exploring magical worlds full of dragons, quests, and secrets.
I also love tech. I enjoy blogging, editing photos, trying out new apps, and keeping my digital space organised. I’m the kind of person who would rather stay home with a laptop and a good book than go to a party. I don’t mind being a bit of a loner. It’s peaceful. It’s me.
Someone Once Wrote This About Me
"Despite her small frame and soft voice, Anna is full of fire. She’s funny, honest, and surprisingly bold. Once she starts talking, there’s no stopping her. She’s not one to give quick answers — she’ll take you on a journey, sharing stories that go back to her childhood and explaining what shaped her into the person she is now."
"She once dreamed of being the next Carrie Bradshaw and even though life didn’t make it easy, she never gave up. She’s faced bullying, health challenges, and more setbacks than most people know. But through it all, she’s created a space that is warm, honest, and full of hope. She may not have ended up in a glossy magazine office, but she’s built something even more powerful — her own voice, her own space, and her own way of reaching people."
Why I Keep Writing
I write because I need to. I write because it makes me feel alive. I write because it helps me make sense of everything going on around me. This blog is more than a website — it’s a part of me.
It’s not perfect. It’s not polished. But it’s honest and it’s real. I hope when you read my posts, you feel like we’re sitting down together and having a chat. That’s all I’ve ever wanted — to connect, to share, and to remind people they’re not alone.
So go grab a drink, get comfy, and stay awhile. I’m glad you’re here. I hope you come back again and again.
With love,
Anna
