Toto I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore
Last year when we visited Switzerland, it felt like we was visiting Oz. There is always something to see and with cute log cabin hotel with a stellar view overlooking the rolling hills it’s nothing short of romantic. When we visited last year in the early summer time, you can take a quiet stroll down one of the many small villages (Berg is one I do recommend), or take a closer look with a train journey to the high mountain with the Glacier Express. If that doesn’t bring you closer to nature, you can always hop onto a train and journey to St Moritz the famous ski/sport resort with breath-taking views and the perfect excuse to snuggle under a blanket.
You can still go shopping
If nature walking or looking at breath-take scenery not your thing, hop onto a train to Geneva which is near the south border of Switzerland to France. A small town with plenty of high-designer fashion boutique. Just make sure you have deep pocket as things can be pretty expensive. Take in a romantic meal with the many restaurants or just stroll along the quiet harbour.
Take the train anywhere
The one thing we found so convenience and easy is hopping onto any train we want. Now this is only possible if you get the Interrail pass, other wise you would still have to pay for a ticket. But seriously we just made the journey up as we goes along and depending where the train stops. Our second day we took a train from Geneva to a small village right in the mountain, Berg. It was magical and really special to experience. If you are worried about travelling by train and worried about meeting stranger – don’t be as everyone is friendly and can speak English.
It’s very peaceful
With all the rolling hills and high mountain, we both found it to be really peaceful. We never heard the sound of heavy traffic or loud club music, it was all very quiet and silence. So if you looking for a solitude escape where the environment is peaceful then you found the right place.
Seriously, you can loose yourself
It’s perfect for long walk or hiking across the mountain, take a GPS navigation and off you go. We never did the hiking or long walk as we not the outdoor type but if you are then like I said, it’s perfect to loose yourself.
It’s romantic and easy to get too
Being only a short distance from other Europe countries, Switzerland makes for a quick and easy getaway, whether you stay for just a weekend or longer. It’s easy to plan where to go and as an anniversary or honeymoon getaway, there is an endless amount of memories that you will both cherish for the rest of your life. It a memory that we both cherish and it making us want to go again.
So what are you waiting for?

May 1, 2016Wow! I’m so jealous! I would absolutely love to visit Switzerland! Living in the US, it’s much harder to afford a trip like that, but maybe one day!!! You make it sound like such a great trip to take with my husband (let the kiddos stay with Grandma!) to recharge and rest!

August 13, 2017Absolutely, definitely. Rural Switzerland is one of the best blood pressure lowering experiences there is. My mum is from outside Lucerne and every time I go to visit relatives there I physically feel the stress flooding out of me.
