Shampooing My Long Thick Hair

Now you might remember me mentioning how I have very long thick hair?  You also might remember how I use shampoo to deal with my long thick hair? Today I’m talking about shampooing my long hair.

Yup I’m still complaining about my ultra fast growing knotted hair! It isn’t a blessing and it isn’t pretty when you have hair like mine. It really isn’t! In fact I’m thinking of cutting it and putting in some colour. Dun Dun Dun… Relax I’m not going to go crazy – just cut off the bad part at the end and perhaps go strawberry blonde. I will still have my long hair in which it will look nice for one day and then the next it will go back to being a horrible mess.

Oh well, in the meantime I have been looking for a perfect hair solution to my dilemma. And I think folks, I have found it. I think I have found it in this neat little shampoo & conditioner bottle: L’Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Luminiser. I picked this up one day last week as I was on a mission on finding the right shampoo & conditioner for my hair.

Product Description

The Science of Dull Hair Lacking Radiance. Over time, hair fibres can become dull due to a build-up of impurities and the hair cuticle becoming rough, which can disrupt light reflection.

The Secret to Intense and Long-lasting Shine. Today, professional gloss techniques are used to remove impurities from hair fibres, and coat them with a glossing polish for long-lasting, weightless luminosity. Inspired by this, L’Oréal Paris laboratories have created our first haircare range enriched with GLYCOGEL, a glossing polish that helps hair look illuminated for 48hr* sealed in shine.

RESURFACES THE FIBRES: Helps to clear the fibres of impurities that disrupt light reflection. The fibres appear as if resurfaced and cuticles appear realigned, for silky smooth hair that feels

deeply moisturised. SEALS IN SHINE: Helps seal the cuticles and coat the hair with a weightless gloss to intensify shine.

With a products description like that, I was hoping miracles would happen.

Here is my hair before the shampoo. By this point as you can see from the photos it greasy and looking rather dull. It also incredibly knotted and clumpy.

  • I use John Freida Blonde shampoo and conditioner usually but recently changed to a different one and hated it! Very quickly switched back and I love my glossy hair again! Your hair looks great, I don’t envy you having to deal with such long hair though! #Bestandworst

  • My top favorite shampoo is BIG by Lush. It’s mostly salt and lemon juice! Of course I can’t use it when my hair is color treated, but with how oily my hair gets since having kids, NO OTHER shampoo battles the oil better in my equally thick head of hair!

I have to use a really good treatment on my hair as it’s been highlighted and I blow dry then straighten it so its has a lot of heat damage, I have tried a lot of different ones and have to say the one that is the best to deal with the over bleaching/heating my hair is Kerastase Chronologiste treatment, it comes in a black pot with a gold lid, it is amazing my dry fried hair is silky smooth after I use it, I usually leave it in my hair for !/2 an hour and pretty much use it every time I wash my hair you only need a bit of it as its very thick and nourishing. If anyone wants to buy it I get it form all beauty.com online its way cheaper around £25 otherwise if you buy it from a salon (you can’t get it in normal shops) it costs around £33/35
