Blog Traffic | October 2017

Now we really nearing the end of the year with only two months remaining. Here is my October 2017 blog traffic report and how I achieved my 24,000 page views.

Throughout October there was a little downward trend, but I attribute to that time of year and how we really nearing the end of 2017. So people are probably on holiday or are really busy with work. It ok and I’m still happy with my result.  My traffic throughout the year has been like a yo-yo.

My top 5 most popular posts from October:

I based it this month from page views on my Google Analytics. Which of my posts got the most views and which one got you talking the most. Mixtures of posts, ranging from ghost books to chocolates. As always I tried to write real mixtures of different posts. You guys seem to really enjoy reading – so I will keep doing what I’ve been doing.

How did people find my Blog?

My top 3 results came largely from Stumbleupon, Pinterest and Twitter:

Stumbleupon (SU):

SU is just a steady source of traffic for me and it doesn’t look like it slowing down anytime soon. It most defiantly helps on keeping my traffic up.

If you haven’t read my SU post, then read it today.

Pinterest:

Pinterest throughout September went off like a firework. I always got an amazing result from It, but this time it really took off. This confirmed to me that it worthwhile investing time and energy to Pinterest. So why did it shoot off like a firework rocket?

Well as always I added all my blog pictures to appropriate boards and to Pinterest groups. I re-pinned various other images. Joined in with Pinterest Facebook groups and start to use it as a personal account, rather than a business one. What I mean by that I always hear from an expert how to use Pinterest like a business and only pinned images from your site, my advice is screw that and use it a personal fun account and pin anything you like. And as always I added more ‘pinnable’ images at the end of my posts.

Here is a tutorial I wrote on how to increase traffic to Pinterest: My 5 Best Pinterest Advice

Twitter:

I will admit unexpected surprise. I wasn’t expecting such a raise from Twitter. I think it did help that new people found my blog from Twitter. I also found that these new people were retweeting my blog links tweets, my mentions were filled with people tweeting both my old and new blog posts. This was amazing and I didn’t expect such lovely attention.  One more thing I did do was post more on twitter and have a chat with people. It well worth turning your attention to Twitter and just chatting to people.

What didn’t work in October:

You know what, I can’t think of anything as throughout October everything seems to be working very well. Everything seems to be on a steady trend so I have no complaint about anything as It was all good!

October 2017 blog traffic

And that was my October 2017 blog traffic report. It was a bloody brilliant month and a big thank you so much for supporting me. It means the universe to me that my blog is doing so well and I couldn’t have done it with you – Thank you so much, everyone.

  • Question about the Pinterest part: Is your Pinterest set up as a business account still (with analytics) or a personal account (without analytics)? I personally use Pinterest as I would if it were a personal page but it is set up as a business account.

    Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on the Pinterest growth! I def think you should feel free to pin anything that interests you, not just business related pins. You are the most important part of the brand after all!

  • Agreed, a business account in pinterest is essential but that doesn’t mean you don’t pin others in my opinion. It’s working for me as well. This sounds like an awesome month! Great work!

  • I’m always intrigued when people post where they get traffic from, and where mine comes from. I’ve started to look at my most popular posts, and I’m like OK, more of those.

I hope you have an excellent November!

  • I’m all for any information I can get when it comes to traffic to a blog. Some of the stuff you have on here I had thought about but really didn’t know how to go about doing it. I have a twitter account but I’m not on it a whole lot. I’ll have to look into Pinterest and see how to slip my blog in there. Really nice post.

  • I have been wondering if Stumbled Upon was still a great source of traffic. Thanks for confirming this, I have dropped out of the blogging game for a couple of years but i am wanting to get back into it now so I am glad that it’s still effective.
