5 Health Benefits of Laughing Yoga

Recently I went to a laughing yoga class. Seriously, it a real thing, it no laughing matter. Well, expect it is, as it’s designed to make you laugh – at lot!

Laughing yoga is not your typical yoga class either; there is more movement for a starter and also more interaction with people. There were no complicated stretches, and the class focuses more on breathing.

Laughing yoga is designed to help you use the diaphragm so you can do a really deep belly laugh and take in more oxygens.

It was a hoot and a half, seriously by the end of the class I had tears streaming down my face.

The class didn’t affect my Cataplexy either, this is when you laugh so hard your legs turn to jelly, and you collapse onto the floor. I had it since a child, and it can be an inconvenience.

Anyway, laughing yoga is supposed to have a wide range of health benefits. I’m sure you heard people say, ‘oh it good to laugh’, well it is as it really does benefit the mind and the body.

So here are 5 health benefits of laughing yoga and how doing this practice can improve more than your mood.

Laughter is the best medicine

I’m sure you have heard this phrase before, but it so true! It is better than any paracetamol as it can relieve period cramp and headache. It also helps to prevent heart disease.

The Best Stress Relief in life

It heavily reduces stress as it produces a huge amount of stress-free hormones within the body. What this does it cut out the anxiety and stress that is impacting with the body.

Tone your abs

If you want to tone your abs or get a sexy 6-pack, then you know what to do. As we laugh our muscle in the abs expands and contract, in the same way when we do sit-up exercise. So when we laugh, we are giving our abs a good workout as well.

It helps lower blood pressure

If you suffer from high blood pressure, then laughter might be the way to go to help reduce it. High blood pressure can lead to heart disease and stroke, so it critical you can lower it. So try out laughing yoga to bring your blood pressure down.

It gives you wonderful endorphins

Those happy hormones you get after a gym workout. Endorphins are the natural body painkillers and will help ease any sore, achy muscle or pain. It will also make you feel good about yourself.
