Oh hello, June, where did you come from? Seriously how is it June already? I'm going to try and make the most of summer this year - despite everything else being rubbish. I'm going to enjoy myself and have fun in the sun. Sound like a good plan, doesn't it? ⠀

Oh hello, June, where did...

I must admit that I did get bored with balcony/mirror outfit pictures and wanted a more nature/organic photos backdrop. Well now summer is right around the corner, and the sun is indeed shining, and with news that lockdown resections are now easing, I now thought it was the perfect opportunity to go out into the wood and show you this floral Zara dress.⠀
I brought this dress at the very beginning of this year and was keen to show you guys this as I think it a lovely summer dress to wear, plus, I also thought it would go nicely with my red hat.⠀
For someone who has been cooped up, I must admit that it was nice to go into my local woodland and to walk around for an afternoon. I think it was also lovely for Richard, my husband, to pick up his camera again and to take some photos. The whole pandemic has put a pause on his professional photographer profession, and he hasn’t needed to use his camera much.⠀
It was lovely to put on a dress and to make myself look a little presentable. It got me out of my loungewear for an afternoon. The experience made me feel a little more like myself, and it put me in a good mood. As much as I like comfy loungewear, I’m still someone who wants to dress up.⠀
I’m hoping I can go out more this summer, of course still observing the social distancing rule, and doing more outdoor outfit photos. I’m also hoping this summer to wear more of my summer outfit and to feel more like myself.⠀

I must admit that I...

Usually, when I do an outfit post or picture, I like to dress up and show you some pretty dress. But this time I thought I would show you a few of my casual wear and what I wear on a day to day basis. I must admit, as much as I love to dress up, I wouldn't exactly go to Tesco in them. So on a day to day basis, I'm usually in jeans and a top. ⠀

If I were to describe my style, it would be summed up in two words: quirky and fun. I'm sure you realise by now I don't like boring black fashion – I do fun, bright, colourful style. Case in point is this Collectif watermelon dress. You can't get more quirky and fun fashion than this, can you?⠀
I like my clothes to reflect a lot of my personality, eternally youthful while also quirky and fun. Yup, that pretty much summed up me. The saying, you are who you are by the clothes you wear, really does hold up with me.⠀
I'm still that little girl who had a dressing up box as a child and would play dress-up; now I just have a wardrobe filled with more clothes than I could ever need as my dressing up box. I still like to have fun with my clothes, and I haven't lost that childhood wonder about clothes. And I don't think I ever will.⠀
Overall, what I'm saying is that this Collectif watermelon dress reflects who I am as a person and also my style. I also believe it represents how fashion shouldn't be all serious; it should be fun and should put a smile on a person's face.⠀

If I were to describe...

* Stare at the computer screen completely blank, not sure what write*. Pretty summed up my week really - a blank space. Yup got writer block. ⠀

Blog Traffic | June 2017

Posted on

I can’t believe June is over already! We’re now over the half way point of the year and so far things are looking better than ever. Here is my June 2017 blog traffic report and how I achieved my 23,000 page views.

June blog traffic report

I genuinely cannot believe June is over already! Seriously, did anyone else felt that the month just flew by. Luckily for me I didn’t really suffer from a ‘summer slump’ on here and June was my best month yet.

My top 5 most popular posts from June:

Another random lots of posts throughout June, I based this on both engagement and pageviews. Despite me complaining about the heatwavea lot! You all seem to stick around and got involved. Hello to all my new readers, stick around, pull up a chair, brew a cup of tea and get comfy, as folks I’m only getting started.

How did people find my Blog?

My top 3 results came largely from Stumbleupon, Organic Searches and Referral:

Stumbleupon (SU):

SU was another fantastic and brilliant result.  This just a steady source of traffic from me and it doesn’t look like it slowing down anytime soon. It most defiantly helps on keeping my traffic up.

I still have many of you asking me questions on SU. And a lot of these questions are about the lack of traffic from SU and being ghost banned. Well here is my response and how you can you can work to resolved this problem:

It seems like your site has been ‘ghost banned’. This is when SU put a block on your account. It might have felt that you were spamming your account – which I’m sure you weren’t! But perhaps their anti-spam tool picked up something.

My advice is – be active and leave SU alone for your site for the time being. Meaning don’t try to build traffic from it. When I say be active on SU, try to build followers and just browse the platform. What I love about SU is that it helps me discover really cool sites that I would otherwise never have found. So just pick an interest and just browse.

I myself for example, love browsing on all the paranormal stuff so I tend to spend hours looking at everything. When you find something cool – give it a thumb up and add it to your like. I also find that if you enjoyed one such cool site and it has social media buttons then share it on your platform. I find SU reward you if you share people sites onto social media. I also find it reward you if you comment on a blog post – but don’t leave a spammy comment.

Also browse other people following – what are they stumbling? Take a look and that can hopefully help you build up a following.

Once you done that for a while, slowly start adding your site, give it a test run and see how it goes. Slowly start adding other people sites to your SU. If you join in with lots of Facebook SU threads – try to just join in with one and see how that goes.

It might take a while for SU to take off your block but it not permanent and there is way to unblock yourself.

If you haven’t read my SU post, then read it today.

Organic searches:

My organic searches seem to get better and better every month. I had a few people who said they found me through various Google searches, this make me happy as I’m having new readers and a steady source of traffic.

My SEO series has so far been a big success; a lot of people has said it has helped them.  Don’t worry folks, I’m just getting started.

I achieved high traffic source from organic searches by using various simple technique.  I wrote high keywords post, what I mean by this is I wrote post that I know will do well in Google. It all comes down to me using my Google keyword tool into my SEO strategy and using high search term within a blog post.

If that sound confusing, don’t worry as I’ve written a tutorial on how to use Google keyword tool for your blog.

Also it might be helpful to read my post on how to make your blog more SEO friendly.

Yeah this is a new one this month. Admittedly it took me by surprise as well. It was one area that wasn’t growing. Is there a secret trick to this – honestly, I will have to let you know next month.

What I think has helped was the lovely LC from Home & Horizon featured moi on her blog. This entailed lots of lovely referral traffic. Cheers LC.

I also discovered by joining in and being a regular user on various blog parties/links up has helped me. Remember me saying how it was a dead end, well I have found that if I full commit to it and give it my attention than it does work. It will send you lots of lovely traffic.

So that a good result, is it. If you are wondering where to find to blog parties/links up, then this is a handy list.

What didn’t work in June:

Pinterest. It was alright, just not doing as well as before. I got more traffic from it then I did in May. But not really on an upward climb. I’m still trying to work out what going on with Pinterest.

June 2017 blog traffic report

And that was my June 2017 blog traffic report. It was a bloody brilliant month and a big thank you so much for supporting me. It means the universe to me that my blog is doing so well and I couldn’t have done it with you – Thank you so much everyone.

Well done! Sounds like your site is moving forward. I only hope my next month does too!

  • Your stats are great! Keep up the hard work! I’m trying to incorporate more of Stumble Upon in my daily social media checklist. I’ve been blogging for over 3 years and still have yet to really push on it.

Great job. I think I really need to look into stumble upon because I haven’t done that yet. There’s so many outlets out there to help with blogging it’s hard to tackle them all!

  • Congrats on such a successful month! I’m pretty much just getting started with StumbleUpon and so far it does seem to bring more traffic than I thought it would, so I definitely think I’ll stick with it!

So question – when you use the Google keyword tool, do you then go back to your post and incorporate/designate the keywords you find?

Thank you for the advice concerning stumble upon. I spent the whole trying to figure out how it works but i didnt get any headway. I leave it alone for now

  • It’s great that stumble upon is working so well for you! I find that sometimes it can refer a lot of traffic and then it drops off. I browsed to the end of cute animals lol. I just love fluffy things. Congrats to your success! Do you track what you share in fb groups? You can create custom tracking links using a Google Dev tool. Search ‘Google Dev campaign url’. I use it to see which groups are performing best for me 😊
