Oh hello, June, where did you come from? Seriously how is it June already? I'm going to try and make the most of summer this year - despite everything else being rubbish. I'm going to enjoy myself and have fun in the sun. Sound like a good plan, doesn't it? ⠀

Oh hello, June, where did...

I must admit that I did get bored with balcony/mirror outfit pictures and wanted a more nature/organic photos backdrop. Well now summer is right around the corner, and the sun is indeed shining, and with news that lockdown resections are now easing, I now thought it was the perfect opportunity to go out into the wood and show you this floral Zara dress.⠀
I brought this dress at the very beginning of this year and was keen to show you guys this as I think it a lovely summer dress to wear, plus, I also thought it would go nicely with my red hat.⠀
For someone who has been cooped up, I must admit that it was nice to go into my local woodland and to walk around for an afternoon. I think it was also lovely for Richard, my husband, to pick up his camera again and to take some photos. The whole pandemic has put a pause on his professional photographer profession, and he hasn’t needed to use his camera much.⠀
It was lovely to put on a dress and to make myself look a little presentable. It got me out of my loungewear for an afternoon. The experience made me feel a little more like myself, and it put me in a good mood. As much as I like comfy loungewear, I’m still someone who wants to dress up.⠀
I’m hoping I can go out more this summer, of course still observing the social distancing rule, and doing more outdoor outfit photos. I’m also hoping this summer to wear more of my summer outfit and to feel more like myself.⠀

I must admit that I...

Usually, when I do an outfit post or picture, I like to dress up and show you some pretty dress. But this time I thought I would show you a few of my casual wear and what I wear on a day to day basis. I must admit, as much as I love to dress up, I wouldn't exactly go to Tesco in them. So on a day to day basis, I'm usually in jeans and a top. ⠀

Usually, when I do an...

If I were to describe my style, it would be summed up in two words: quirky and fun. I'm sure you realise by now I don't like boring black fashion – I do fun, bright, colourful style. Case in point is this Collectif watermelon dress. You can't get more quirky and fun fashion than this, can you?⠀
I like my clothes to reflect a lot of my personality, eternally youthful while also quirky and fun. Yup, that pretty much summed up me. The saying, you are who you are by the clothes you wear, really does hold up with me.⠀
I'm still that little girl who had a dressing up box as a child and would play dress-up; now I just have a wardrobe filled with more clothes than I could ever need as my dressing up box. I still like to have fun with my clothes, and I haven't lost that childhood wonder about clothes. And I don't think I ever will.⠀
Overall, what I'm saying is that this Collectif watermelon dress reflects who I am as a person and also my style. I also believe it represents how fashion shouldn't be all serious; it should be fun and should put a smile on a person's face.⠀

Today is the second day of a 365-pages story. Make the most of it and be amazing in 2017.

I want each and every single one of you – yes even the girl at the back I see you – to be so flipping amazing in 2017.  Do something amazing that will make you feel awesome all year long. This is the year that you’ll going to take charge with your life and live it on a high. You’re going to start the day with a punch in the air, high five people as you meet them and tell that mirror reflection that today will be a good day, no matter what.

Start 2017 by changing your look. And no I’m not talking about plastic surgery. By the time you read this I’ll be on my way to the hairdresser as I’m finally going to do something about my hair. I’m starting 2017 with a new look and it will (hopefully) be amazing! Go change your look and be a whole new you. I’m not talking about anything drastic or a complete pretty woman top to toes new look. Just change how you have your hair – from a pony tail to a French braid. If your hair looking a little dull, go to the hairdresser and get a blow-dry, it will add some volume and at least you get salon hair for a day. Just change your lipstick – from a dark red to a bright red. Paint your nails or find some fashion statement jewelry to wear.

Start 2017 learning something new. I spent a lot of new year day fiddling around in Photoshop and getting back into loving graphic design. I learnt new skills and I enjoyed myself making all kind of different pictures. Moral of the story is that I learnt something new. That what I want you all to do (and be warned I will be checking up on you all – big brother is real folks) this year is to learn a new skill. Whether it to play a musical instrument or to take drama classes. Go and do it and do it now! If you’re planning on starting up a blog this year – go ahead and do it. You will not regret it.

Start 2017 with a smile and be nice. Let’s be honest there is too much hatred and violence in the world. Take the time this year to smile at people and to be nice at everyone you meet. If you see someone wear something nice – compliment them. I do this quite often. I’d be on the train minding my own business and if a lady sits down next to me and she’s wearing this amazing dress – I’d tell her. There no harm in it and all you’re doing is telling someone they look nice. Not only did it brighten your day – it I suppose brighten that person day a little.

So overall what I’m saying is – 2017 is the start of a 365 blank pages’ story. Go ahead and fill it up with lots of awesome things. When 2017 is over, you can look back at it and realize that this year you were amazing.

I like the idea of being kind and smiling at people, it does go a long way. The start of 2017 for us is hopes and big dreams to push our blog to the next level. We have worked so hard already but in the midst of that, our social life has suffered so in 2017 we are going to make an effort to take time with family and friends whom we know will always be there .

THis is such a great post, it is so easy to be pessimistic about the newy year sometimes, especially when the previous year didn’t end a such a great note. I love this ” Today is the second day of a 365-pages story. Make the most of it and be amazing in 2017″ This quote could get me through the bead days!

I have big plans to make 2017 an amazing year and it sounds like you do too. It’s always exciting to be at the beginning and to think that we have a blank slate and can make the year into anything we want and then go ahead and start implementing our plans. Here’s to an amazing you in 2017!

I’m not one for New Years resolutions, but I really love this. The way to do it is to change little things. I just chose to do it before the New Year started. Changed my hair and started improving my photography and web building skills. But I guess the New Year might be just what some people need. That little push you need to make a change.

I change my look often as I’m getting older. I’m working on an exercise program this year and I invited everyone on my blog to come join me in learning communication skills for the information age that will help our relationships from personal to professional in 2017. I’m offering prizes to those who comment and share my blog posts.

Love this idea Anna and I think exactly the same way. We have the power within us all to have an amazing day, month, year and life and sometimes it only means doing something like getting a new look to make us feel on top of the world. Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond

You are absolutely right-a smile can go a long way. There is way too much bitterness in the world. A new hairstyle is a good idea for a pick-me-up, too!

  • What great ideas to start the new year with. I did change my hair color. 🙂 I did it the week of Christmas. My roots were showing, and I couldn’t find the color that I normally go with, so I went lighter! I love it!
